Rainbow

just spread 'em out, Brett...

although I have to admit my current palette is just shades of dark grey and black with a splash of NZR red.

rainy sunday

Had to go to nieces for morning tea today so didnt get together with Warwick, nevertheless did a bit more on the McRae before lunch. The red is coming along nicely but will need an overall touchup/levelling before its done.

I also scored a new pencil case... A 5 tier case from the Plastic Box place in Lower hutt... allows me to colour code the pencils and spread them out a bit. working well so far...

Brett - this is great news - well done!

Gene

Just sold a Corsair to Gene De Marco from the Vintage Aviator company..

Real Thrill! componded in that I contacted him and it appears we 'may' be able to get a tent or at least sell some prints at Masterton at the next airshow....

awesome!!!

22

bit more work on the McRae in the last 2 nights and the colour is working out.
Flourescent pink underlay followed by red then orange solid coverage.. seems to capture the brightness to me... we'll see when the scan and prints are done.

Well done Warwick on all the sales... tubes? what tubes?  Ill have to start charging commission soon I reckon!!!

(Ill get some more tubes next weekend...  secret stash!!!)

I got a corsair printed at Old Dave's today, I think the colour is way better..lacks only depth of black toner and of course the heavier paper but you cant beat the price!!!

Heres the McRae so far (bad indoor pic!)

Fourging On

I've sold three prints so far this week - the Catalina, RM30 & BR 9F. Oh, and the new Fokker. That's four. I'll try Brett's new printer to see if he's any good. At this rate I'll need to find a new source of tubes - oh, Brett, about those tubes I gave you earlier this year...

The new Fokker is finished:

Although there are a number of replica Fokker Dr.1's flying today, there are no original Dreideckers left. Serial No 152/17 (depicted here), in which Manfred von Richthofen obtained three victories, was displayed at the Zeughaus museum in Berlin. The triplane was destroyed by an Allied bombing raid during World War II.

I also finished one of a Phantom F-4 II (a USS Constellation-based Phantom that saw service during the Vietnam War) that had been hanging around:

And I've started on a rather ambitious drawing of an NZR locomotive - Ja 1211. There's an awful lot of black (not greys like the 9F), pipework and valve gear but I'm keen to draw a series of the larger NZ locomotives.

1hr Sunday

Just 1 hour today at Warwicks.
Managed most of the LH side wheels and front suspension.

Warwick was tracing another train against a window... talk about arm ache!!!

Also found a Flourscent red pencil this week. with that as a base and bright red on top I may have the makings for the BRIGHT flouro red of the original car. I tried it out on the air intake lip.

Temporary new printer

Well with the current printer closing for 3 months we had to find a substitute. Old Dave from the Community Copy Centre looks a good bet so he gets the work. Warwick had a bit of trouble with his last print so might be keen to see the new results.
goodish week last week. Warwick sold a Catalina and I sold a couple of mclarens. It's all good!

The Wall

No not Pink Floyd...

The wall in my house where Ive displayed 16 of my drawings...

Just thought Id like to try and get a photo.. had to be a rough composite as couldnt get far enuff back to get the whole wall...

The Red Baron flies again

Another cold day in the heart of God's Zone. I had to turn away Brett from our usual Sunday fun day - I wasn't feeling 100% and didn't want to infect him.

Fokker Dr.1 152/17 of Jasta 11 flown by Baron Manfred von Richthofen nears completion - just the engine remains. All the replicas flying today have modern rotary engines and I want this version to be as authentic as possible. Anyway, herewith one powerless Fokker...

Sunday My Prints Will Come

Actually, that should be 'Someday my Prince will come'...

Brett came around this morning for our usual two hour Sunday session. He's starting a new drawing and started humming as he was working on a wheel (yes, a wheel) then realised what he was doing - at least someone actually reads this blog.

I've added a bit more to the Fokker - I'd made some blunders during the week while working on the tail and had had to rework it (my apologies for the blue cast - I'll tweak it to better reflect the actual colours).
